Review: ABCToys4me.com Anime Store

Collecting toys are now becoming more and more toxic, since recently I just started to expand my toys search (from Chinatown and Little Tokyo, LA) into the realm of Westminster and Paramount, CA

On the map, that's about a 60-mile radius.
A= my place
B= Anime Jungle - Little Tokyo
C= ABCToy4me - Paramount
D= Anime King - Westminster

So today, I decided to visit this anime warehouse store ABCToy4me, which is located in Paramount, CA. I inquire about their warehouse on the phone, and a very friendly guy just told me that I can just come into the warehouse to see and pick up what I want anytime during weekdays from 9 - 6.

Apparently they do not have a storefront, most of their transaction are done online via Amazon or eBay, and thus they save more overhead cost by not having a physical store.

When we came to the area, it was a pretty strange setup, a bunch of guys just hanging around in front of the warehouse playing Yugi-Oh! cards, one of them just directed us to go inside.

Once inside, it was a very big place with pretty much toys everywhere, arranged in racks. Although they tried, it doesn't seemed that much organization exists. I am an open minded person, so I do not mind the setup at all, as long as the price is right.

Racks and racks of toys...

So we immediately being greeted by a fat cow lady that was eager to sell us stuff, she was asking which items that we'd like. I can't help that I felt like being watched and pressured to pick the stuff and get the hell out, seemed like every turn I made to a different isle she was busy watching and following me.

I stumble upon a few figures and ask her for pricing, she went and took the items and come back in a bout 5 minutes or so, telling me about the pricing. I'd say it's a bit higher than the normal market price, but if they are good I will take it (she also promise me a 10% discount on my order).

Then I was looking at several figures more, well there was one figures that has a price tag of $19.99 on the bottom, and so I think SCORE! I gave her that figure with 2 others to her and told her that we are ready to go.

To my surprise she came back after another 5 minutes with the pricing for the figures. Outrageously they were written in post-it notes and the prices were at least 3 times higher! I told her that this is not the price they have online, and that one of the figures had a $19.99 price tag on it.

What got me so mad is that she apparently took off the original $19.99 price tag from the figure and told me that she is selling it for $80, a 60 dollar mark-up on the spot. Where the fuck does this come from? The rest were not doing so great either, they were marked as $40 and $75 for a $20.00 each, top!

That moment on, I realized that they are doing a shady business practice. We decided to cancel and leave the place almost immediately. Now I do not mind pricing much, but the fact that she marked up the price on the spot plus taking off the current price tag is FREAKIN SHADY...

I may not come back and deal with ABCToy4me.com after my experience, but again other's mileage may vary...
